The "Daetwyler Vision" has always been to bring innovative products and services with Swiss character out into the world: ingeniously developed, implemented with the highest precision and distributed with customer-oriented service. Since its foundation in 1943, Daetwyler has continuously improved and expanded the company's expertise.

Decades of Leadership, Now Expanding Horizons

  • 2026

    In 2026, the official brand name for this venture was defined to clearly reflect our strategic focus and industry commitment.

    The name FIBREX perfectly anchors the agile entity's global mission:

    • FIBRE: Shows our strong connection to the fibre-based paper and tissue industry.

    • EX: Represents the deep Expertise behind our entire manufacturing and distribution process.

  • 2023

    Once the industry recovered, Daetwyler SwissTec relaunched the project with renewed vigor. In 2023, the initiative was systematically driven forward and established as an agile, specialized entity.

    This setup combines the dynamic spirit of a new venture with Daetwyler’s decades of technical expertise, fully focusing on high-performance solutions for the paper and tissue sector.

  • 2018

    The ambition of Daetwyler SwissTec to firmly establish itself within the paper industry began to take concrete shape in 2018. Driven by the goal of introducing innovative high-performance solutions to the market, the project gained significant momentum. However, the sudden outbreak of the global pandemic abruptly halted these plans, forcing a temporary pause on the initiative.

  • 2008

    On 1 January 2008, a new chapter began as the production of MDC doctor blades was officially transferred to the newly established, independent company Daetwyler SwissTec AG in Bleienbach.

    Building on this proven core technology, the company soon initiated plans to design and engineer specialized high-performance blades for the paper industry, actively developing and refining the initial concept.

  • 1972

    Start of distribution of the unique developed Daetwyler Lamella Doctor Blade, which became a watchword for quality and reliability worldwide.

    Since this milestone, the MDC doctor blades have established themselves as undisputed global market leaders—a position they continue to hold today.

  • 1943

    At the age of 27, Max Daetwyler founded the company in Dietikon, canton Zurich. The focus was on aircraft maintenance and overhaul.

Daetwyler GROUP

The family-run Daetwyler Group is globally active. With the three divisions SwissTec (global market leader in the production of high-precision MDC doctor blades), Cheshire Anilox Technology Ltd. (a market leader in the manufacture of high-quality, laser-engraved ceramic anilox rollers) and Rotoflex (inks and lacquers for food, non-food and security), and Industries (high-precision machine construction and customized special projects), it has over 10 sites worldwide employing more than 500 staff.
